sport & recreation ASbA

Purpose

The role of the Sport and Recreation ASbA is to work with a local primary school to provide support to the PE department and assist the greater school community.

Program Context

tastec group training are offering a Sport & Recreation ASbA program for secondary school students. ASbA’s are employed by tastec group training for a period of 12 months and leased to a host employer within the Sport program at local primary schools for their on-the-job experience. To fulfill the requirements of the ASbA, students are required to complete 1 day per week with the host employer and structured training to be completed during school holidays. These hours are part of their school timetable and can be averaged over the term of the contract.

Upon successful completion of training with the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and completion of the on-the-job employment, ASbA’s will be issued with a Certificate III in Sport & Recreation, as well as having 12 months hands-on experience in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organise interschool sports including:                                 
- permission notices       
- information notices
- research into booking buses & venues  
  • Assist with first-aid duties
  • Assist with recess and lunchtime equipment borrowing
  • Assist with planning & development of school events such as:
- end of year performances
- lunch time activities and games
- after school care program
  • Provide assistance with camps, fundraisers, assistance with community awareness within the school
  • Provide assistance to students in a sporting context by facilitating one-on-one coaching and small groups under supervision of a teacher

Important Information:

  • Candidates will be contacted for interview
  • ASbA's will be placed with a host employer in the industry
  • ASbA's MUST work 1 day per week
  • ASbA's are required to attend compulsory workshops during school holidays
