Bushfires plumbing apprentices

After Victoria faced such a horrific experience in February this year with the Victorian bushfires, we decided to send our plumbing apprentices to assist with the rebuild of Heathcote Junction in Wandong.  victec apprenticeships paid 7 plumbing apprentices to spend a day in the fire ravished areas and put their skills to action to assist the people whose homes were affected by the blaze.

With the absence of any equipment on site, the apprentices utilised their own tools like shovels, picks and axes. The group resupplied the water service line to the properties that were without water.  The apprentices dug in excess of 200 meters of trench and laid over 200 meters of water pipe and reconnected the properties.

It was a rewarding day, with Steve Marks, the victec apprenticeships Plumbing Coordinator supervising on site as our apprentices were able to lend a hand to some of the affected people of the Black Saturday crisis.
